We are pleased to announce that Vinzenz Aubry will be our the next artist-in-residence with the project “Embodied Cinema: Vibrations for Androids III”. The residency, a joint effort between the Center of Gravity at the Niels Bohr Institute (CoG/NBI) and the department for Astrophysical and Cosmological Relativity (ACR/MPI for Gravitational Physics), invites selected artists to spend three months exploring and working alongside the scientists at both host institutions.

During the residency, Vinzenz wants to explore forms of knowing beyond the image. Together with the CoG and the ACR, Vinzenz wants to investigate how moving matter, time dilation, and other cosmic signals, can be experienced and related to without defaulting to vision. In addition, the artist will expand their research on vibrations towards the cosmic scale and continue developing their practice of embodied cinema, where the body itself simultaneously becomes the instrument, screen and audience

The response to this year’s call exceeded our expectations, attracting hundreds of exciting proposals, which made for a difficult selection process. The screening of proposals was done by NBI and MPI members in collaboration with an international jury consisting of visual artists Ana Carvalho, Shea Hembrey, Alexandra Hunts, and last year’s artist-in-residence Sjoerd Knibbeler.
