Royal Society Grant Strengthens International Collaboration at CoG

Professor Carlos Núñez from Swansea University and Professor Niels Obers from the Center of Gravity have been awarded a Royal Society International Exchanges grant for the project Exploring Holographic Dualities in Non-Relativistic String Theory and Supersymmetric Quantum Field Theories.

The project will investigate new connections between non-relativistic string theory, holography and supersymmetric quantum field theories. A central objective is to understand how particular deformations of quantum field theories give rise to confinement—the mechanism that prevents quarks from appearing as isolated particles—and how this phenomenon is encoded in their dual gravitational and string-theoretic descriptions. By identifying the geometries associated with these quantum systems, the collaboration aims to advance our understanding of the links between gravity, string theory and strongly coupled quantum physics.

The grant will support mutual research visits between the two groups, involving both the principal investigators and their collaborators, and will strengthen the international research activities of the Center of Gravity.
