Yifan Chen, formerly a postdoctoral researcher with the Strong Group and the Center for Gravity at the Niels Bohr Institute from 2022 to 2025, has begun a new tenure-track Associate Professor position at the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute (TDLI), Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China.

Located in Shanghai, the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute is among the most international institutes for fundamental science in China. It was proposed by Nobel laureate Tsung-Dao Lee, with another Nobel laureate Frank Wilczek serving as its founding director. More information about TDLI can be found here: https://tdli.sjtu.edu.cn/en/.

Yifan’s research continues at the intersection of particle physics, black hole physics, and gravitational-wave science. Supported by starting grants, he is establishing a new research group focused on these highly interdisciplinary and rapidly developing areas.

In August 2026, Yifan will co-organize the 2nd “New Horizon for Psi” Workshop in Beijing. This international conference series was initiated by the Strong Group, together with Vitor, at its first meeting in Lisbon in 2024.
