CoG Represented at the 7th Annual Conference of the Nordic Network for Diversity in Physics
Center of Gravity members Marica Minucci and Lorena Magaña Zertuche attended the 7th Annual Conference of the Nordic Network for Diversity in Physics (NORNDiP), held at Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg, Sweden, from 18–19 November 2025. The conference brought together researchers, educators, and students from across the Nordic region to explore the latest breakthroughs in physics and to engage in meaningful conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion within physics and the wider scientific community.
The program featured a range of scientific talks spanning multiple areas of physics. Marica Minucci presented her work, “A spacetime interpretation to the confluent Heun functions in Black Hole Perturbation Theory” (pictured below), recently published in General Relativity and Gravitation, and also shared insights from her career in physics. The conference additionally showcased enlightening talks on the current state of diversity in physics at both the school and university levels across Nordic countries. Throughout the event, participants had ample opportunities to connect and exchange ideas with colleagues at various career stages, both within academia and in the public sector.
A highlight of the conference was the keynote lecture by Jocelyn Bell Burnell, renowned for her groundbreaking discovery of pulsars. Her talk, which combined scientific insight with reflections on her academic journey, was a source of inspiration for many. Marica and Lorena also had the chance to share an energising conversation with Bell Burnell over tea about physics and life in academia. The event was immortalised in the photograph (shown at the top of the page) featuring Lorena Magaña Zertuche, Jocelyn Bell Burnell, and Marica Minucci (from left to right).
They look forward to next year's meeting, which may be held in Finland.
