Lorena Magaña Zertuche introduced the film Interstellar at Cinemateket on May 6 as part of the “Women in Orbit” film series, organized by Kvinder i Fysik and High5Girls in collaboration with Cinemateket. Before the screening, Lorena walked the audience through some of the scientific questions behind the film: What happens to time near a black hole? What lies inside the event horizon? And how closely does science fiction reflect our current knowledge in physics?

Interstellar explores a future where humanity must leave Earth, and takes us through wormholes, relativity and extreme gravity. But behind the cinematic scale lies real scientific ideas that continue to shape our understanding of the universe. The event highlighted how cinema can spark curiosity about physics and the universe beyond our planet.
